We’re delighted that Rushanara Ali MP will be joining us for a conversation and Q&A session on October 6th.
Rushanara is the Labour MP for Bethnal Green & Bow, where her constituents are close neighbours to the Square Mile. An influential backbencher, she is a member of the Treasury Select Committee and of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Inclusive Growth.
Topics of conversation are likely to include the Treasury’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic – including support schemes, options for tax policy going forward and how best to steer Britain towards an economic recovery.
Rushanara can talk about the relationship between the City’s financial institutions and neighbouring communities – and how changing working patterns could impact inner London.
Rushanara has a particular interest in the prospects and challenges facing young people in Britain. She speaks out on a wide range of national and international topics too – ranging from the plight of the Rohingya people to the need for improved COVID testing, support for multicultural arts in London and compassion for people facing homelessness.
